Guest guest
===== A message from the 'makahwhaling' discussion list ===== FROM WASHINGTON CITIZEN'S COASTAL ALLIANCE ------- WHALES WIN THE DAY! Sekiu, WA- 3:30pm PDT The Makah whaling team, tired and frustrated, gave up the chase today and returned to Neah Bay, with their canoe being towed by the power boat prominently featured by Seattle-area television coverage. Whether they will go out again tomorrow is unknown. Most notable moments of the day: - The whaling crew missing at least a half-dozen chances to attack a whale: the whales they approached would mysteriously disappear just as the canoe would come within striking distance. Television reporters began commenting that perhaps the " whales knew " why the canoe was there. - Theron Parker angrily slapping the water at yet ANOTHER missed opportunity. - The whaling crew doing cannonballs into the cold Pacific waters after deciding to call it quits. This has no doubt caused concern within the U.S. Coast Guard, who has adamantly maintained that one of the reasons for their Exclusion Zone is to PREVENT anyone from going into the drink. No doubt they will re-write the rules yet AGAIN to include " swimming for pleasure " and " cannonballing " as a reason for their presence. - Scott Miller of KING-TV asking Makah Whaling Commissioner Keith Johnson why the crew were diving into the ocean: the few moments of confusion and uncertainty in Keith's voice were worth the price of admission. He later covered his tracks by stating that the crew routinely goes swimming as part of their traditional training. (Cannonballing as well, Keith?) - Sheets of rain soaking the entire area yet again this afternoon! ***** _______________ The simple way to read all your emails at ThatWeb http://www.thatweb.com
