Authorities began investigating the case in May, when students found one of the sheep injured from an apparent sexual assault. The animal later died. Ray was arrested July 31 at the livestock pen run by the Future Farmers of America chapter El Capitan High School in Lakeside, 25 miles northeast of San Diego, said Lt. Glenn Revell of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. Authorities began investigating the case in May, when students found one of the sheep injured from an apparent sexual assault. The animal later died. A second attack occurred in early July and that sheep also died afterward. At that point, the sheriff's set up surveillance at the pen. Deputies witnessed Ray enter the pen and begin to assault a third sheep. They also have physical evidence linking him to the other assaults, although Revell declined to say what it is.
