how wonderful in theory but what do yo do with the birds and dogs and

cats already out there in need of loving competant care!!!

Unfortunately the breeding of birds is going to go on for quite a while

as well as other pets. Parrots are long lived creature intelligent and

caring if well cared for. In fact one of the concerns I have is to make

a will in case my babies outlive me.

I have a sanctuary in mind and I intend to leave all my assets to them

for thier care.

Sudden death happens all the time something to think about re your pets

because of thier low status in our society

many ae summarily put down if no legal will is in place for thier care.

I have already rescued a keet from being let out a window as her

previous owner died and she was not wanted.

To let a flock animal like a bird raised as a pet out any window is

sudden death. They don't have the skills to survive in the wild.

Parrots raised domestically see thier owners as the flock. They have

some instictual processes but neeed to be taught how to negotiate any

enviornment

they are in. Thier intelligence allows for learning at all points in

thier life but a lot needs to happen for this to suddenly

sustain them in adapting to the wild.

Parrrots should never be left in cages to

vegitate all day they need a lot of social time and stimulation and the

only time they should be in a cage is for saftey and/or rest and

sleeping. They need vetrinary care even the ten dollar Budgie by the way

second only to an African Gray re verbal skills.

The botttom line is education and commitment re parrts of any size. They

aren't used cars . Education before the commitment!!!

when the ways of friends converge the whole world looks like home for an

hour.

I always thought it a great cruelty that a creature meant to fly free should

be imprisoned in a cage by anyone, no matter how well meaning. Stop habitat

destruction. Refuse to purchase animals from breeders. Close down the " pet "

trade.

What I said was work to save habitat. Don't buy from breeders. Rescue when

you can. I don't know what we do with all the animals out there already;

take care of them as best we can. But stop the trade in animals.
