Hi! My name is Lisa. I'm new to the group. I live in England which is where I am from originally but I lived in various places in the US for about 20 years. I just moved back here 2 yrs ago. Over the holidays I watched a program on the National Geographic Channel made by a group of English people visiting Yosemite Park. It was about the Grizzly Bears in the park. I was deeply saddened to discover that they are killing Grizzlies at the park if a Grizzly visits a campsite 3 times. Yes, 3 strikes and you're out. Yet it is the human guests at the park who encourage the bears to visit the campsites by having food there, leaving food in accessible places, feeding the bears. Does anyone know if this policy is still standing and whether innocent Grizzlies are being killed simply for scavenging for food?

Hey, Kate the Great here (I'm pretty new to the group)

Animals getting killed for coming too close to people is so common; it's sickening. But as far as I know, that policy is still standing strong in the US.

Quite appalling Lisa. It's another case of man really encroaching on an

animal's territory and the animal being made to pay for it. If anyone

out there visits Yosemite, just tell 'em you won't be doing so while

this injustice goes on.
