Guest guest
Can I make a suggestion that if anybody ever plans a demo, and then for some extenuating circumstances cannot attend, that the e-mail they send out reflecting this is not a “cancellation” of the event but instead is first an acknowledgment that they cannot attend and second, but equally importantly, a request for somebody who has the literature that the planner was going to bring to attend so that the demo can go on despite the absence of the person who initially planned the demo, who while playing an important role in planning and notifying people of the event in the first place is not critical for the demo to happen as long as somebody else brings signs or leaflets. Saying that a demonstration is canceled (more than) dissuades attendance of protesters whereas I believe the way I have proposed actually encourages them. This has always been a pet peeve of mine, and so today is my lucky day to tell the whole world – or at least the Bay Area animal activist community. If anybody is able to attend this demo and bring any kind of signs or literature, please let us all know.
