San Mateo County Committee RE: Confined Animals

Hi folks,

 

I saw this announcement in the local paper. The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors is accepting applications for appointment to the Confined Animal Technical Advisory Committee.

 

I don't know if there are factory farms in San Mateo County, but if there are, it would seem this committee has oversight on the application process.

The article said the commitee provides pre-application guidance to the Confined Animal Permit applicants, advise the Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission on Confined Animal Permit applications, review site management plans and propose best management practices, assist in resolving illegal and non-conforming confined animal situations and provide educational outreach on facility management.

 

In San Mateo County, this probably applies (looking at the open positions below) to stables where horses are kept, or like the ones along Highway 1 in Half Moon Bay where they are rented.

 

Committee meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 4:30 pm in Redwood City. Deadline to apply - February 10, 2006

 

Open positions:

Representing Member Caretaker – Private Stable (1), Environmental (1), Alternate Member Caretaker (2)
