The article Marcy posted caught my eye because of the author - MICHELE ANNA JORDAN

Well, she's also the *same* author who wrote a vegetarian guide to bay area restaurants (VegOut: Vegetarian Guide to San Francisco Bay Area).

 

This guide was brought to my attention by the owner of Shangri-La, who was upset by the author's review of his restaurant -- not because she didn't like the food, but because she mocked the English on the menu.

Overall, It wasn't a very useful guide, in my opinion, but that's most likely because it was written by a carnivore trying to write a guidebook about vegetarian restaurants. And the book didn't really do a good job for vegans, either.

 

In my highly biased (of course!) opinion, I think the Ultimate Guide to Vegetarian Living in the SF Bay Area is much, much better -- it's completely current AND free.
