Guest guest
I apologize for the number of emails, but do hope that you find the topics of interest. Rarely do we have so many opportunities at once to educate about rabbits. I neglected to include my response (OK'd by HRS National) to the rabbit meat article in the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. "Michele Anna Jordan is correct that the Bay Area is taking a liking to rabbits, though it is not in the way she suggested ---disemboweled, slathered in olive oil and brought to a boil. The article and accompanying recipes were reminiscent of the movie “Fatal Attraction†in which a little girl’s pet bunny is boiled to death. Most Americans are not interested in eating household pets. Perhaps people are not aware that the cooked and carved up bunny parts on their plate come from exactly the same genus and species of “ pet bunny rabbit†that millions of animal lovers share their homes with as companion animals. These bunnies snuggle on a sofa, use a litterbox (just like a cat!), love to play with toys and can learn their names. Rabbits are as intelligent and sensitive as cats and dogs. They interact deeply with people and bond for life with both their human guardians and rabbit companions. The article was insensitive to animal lovers and well… just plain gross. Will your next article include recipes for rack of Labrador retriever and kitten kabobs?
