Guest guest
re: ...I won't go into reasons why I've decided to go veggie, but I'm wondering if anyone has any tips when people ask? Also - Anyone have any tips for beginners? Hi Chelsea- I try to keep it lite; and try to work in a little humor when possible. Sometimes I might answer, " There are so many reasons to go veg: our health, the planet, the animals. There really no reasons to use animal products. " It's hard to fit it into a quick sound-bite. I used to try to skirt the animal issue, though it is MY reason. Now I'm more up front about the cruelty, as I think people are more ready to hear it than they used to be. I also think sometimes people don't really want to know; maybe they are opposed and want to start a debate, which is ok. The Vegan Outreach writings have helped me a ton. Lately, I've met people who say, " I used to be a vegan... " . and they often refer to some health issue that was corrected with red meat or milk. I own a ton of nutrition books and over and over the message is: green vegetables, legumes and whole grains for iron, calcium, protein etc. etc. I've gotta figure out what to say to these people. Good job on going veg!! Sue
