Hey all! New to the group! Thanks for the welcome!

I won't go into reasons why I've decided to go veggie, but I'm

wondering if anyone has any tips when people ask?

Also - Anyone have any tips for beginners?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Chelsea

Welcome, and congratulations on your decision to go veg!

If you can make it, come to the Vegan Food Party on the 29th. VFPs are great ways to sample a wide variety of veg foods, and you can get the recipes for the ones you like and make them at home. Plus, this month, Alex Bury will be doing a presentation/demo geared towards making delicious veg foods.

Additionally, while having this list is great to "connect" with folks online, meeting and talking in person with other folks who are your interest in foods and veg living -- while eating food -- is a great experience. So, whether it's a VFP, or a restaurant dinner or a letter writing party, whatever, just get out there and meet other folks.

I'd also suggest some good cookbooks. My favorites are:

Peaceful Palate by Jennifer Raymond

"Vegan Vittles" and "Saucy Vegetarian" by Joanne Stepaniak

The last one is full of recipes for no-cook sauces that make great meals when you add them over rice, pasta, veggies, beans, etc.

And, I would suggest continue to read and educate yourself on all the great reasons to go veg. We've put a lot more book and resource recommendations on our website (see the 'resources' section) at http://bayareaveg.org

Cheers,

Tammy
