Guest guest
From Ron: Just came across this book. Anyone familiar with it, the author or can offer a review? The Bold Vegetarian Chef by Ken Charney http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0471212784/www10000birdc-20/002-2113877-0711243 No, but it looks great. Chipotle-date dressing—yum. Now I’m curious about it, let me know if you try it! I will recommend another book: When I clicked on this book I saw that they were also selling Peter Berley’s “The Modern Vegetarian Kitchen.” That’s one of my favorites. Sadly, it is not 100% vegan—but about 98%. The recipes are very, very good, they always come out right, and many of them offer the feel of Millennium Recipes without the fuss. It’s a good basic cookbook for simple (and yummy) recipes. Another one, if you’re a dessert eater: “Sweet and Natural,” by Meredith McCarty. All vegan baking recipes, and all of the recipes can be made with alternative sweeteners and flours. She gives tons of information about all the choices—how to replace wheat flour, when to use maple syrup vs. when to use brown rice syrup, etc. Her basic cookie and cake recipes come out beautifully and they’re easy to jazz up and add your own special touches, if you feel like it.
