Beginnerish Vegan Cooking Club

Hi all. Does anyone know of any vegan cooking clubs out there? If

there aren't any (or even if there are), I'd like to start a

beginnerish one. We'll meet once a month at someone in the group's

home, and each person will bring a part of the meal--appetizer, main

course, dessert, etc. We might also have themes each month, like

Mexican or Thai.

I'm a new vegan and not a very experienced cook, so if you're a

gourmet chef, this probably isn't for you. I'm looking to have fun and

experiment with vegan cooking, and meet fellow new vegans, too. If

this sounds good to you, please write!

Experienced vegans are welcome, too, of course, just deal with my

cooking mistakes!!

Thanks,

Rachel

Hi Rachel,

I've been looking for very much the same thing myself. However, I must caution

that my apartment is not currently conducive for accomodating such a gathering.

If this is not a problem, please include me in your plans. Thanks so much for

the posting and please keep me updated. Very timely, indeed.

Hi Rachel and everyone,

Well, in a way, this is why Bay Area Vegetarians has Vegan Food Parties! Basically, everyone brings a home-cooked vegan dish with a recipe/list of ingredients and people can try new dishes, new foods, in a friendly, supportive environment while meeting other veggie people.

That is a reminder to me that we are looking for volunteers to host for 2006!

Hosting a Vegan Food Party is a great way to meet others, support your local Bay Area Veg organization and community and sample a wide variety of vegan foods. We specifically encourage folks to "animal test" new vegan recipes on willing volunteers.

So, Rachel, if this is something you think you may be interested in -- or if anyone else is interested (Bay Area Veg needs a dozen volunteers! and some months we've had 2 VFPs) -- please email me for more info or there's also info available online at :

http://www.bayareaveg.org/host.htm

We especially need volunteer hosts in the winter months when weather is likely to be cold/rainy so please think about hosting a VFP for Bay Area Veg.

Thanks,

Tammy

"This is my protest against the conduct of the world. To be a vegetarian is to disagree--to disagree with the course of things today. Starvation, world hunger, cruelty, waste, wars--we must make a statement against these things. Vegetarianism is my statement and I think it's a strong one." -- Isaac Bashevis Singer
