Guest guest
Hi folks I know it's not even 2006 yet .. and some folks might not even have their new calendars / planners ready yet .. but Great American Meat Out is a national event sponsored by the Farm Animal Reform Movement (FARM) that brings vegetarianism to the public's attention by asking them to "meat out" and "go veg". http://www.meatout.org/ As I was looking ahead to the first few months of 2006, I realized that I would be organizing some type of activity for this occasion, and I realized many of you may be thinking about organizing or will be participating in an event like this as well. So, I wanted to give a reminder that the Jan 8th workshop on Effective Advocacy for Animals, we will be covering the basic advocacy techniques of leafleting, letter writing, and tabling -- all great skills for advocating vegetarianism. Additionally, we'll have a special presentation on Activist Rights for Legal Rights. More details - http://www.bayareaveg.org/events.htm?EID=1081#1081 We can definitely also use the Jan 8th event to network/connect activists who would like to work together and/or share information on organizing and coordinating events. If you're an individual or organization planning a Meat-Out event, please remember to share the details with SFBAVEG and BAARN (and you're also welcome to post the event notice on Bay Area Veg's event calendar at http://BayAreaVeg.org/events ) so we can work together for the animals. If you're new to advocacy, and don't feel up to organizing an event but would like to participate in one, please stay tuned to both lists for further details or feel free to email me and I'll try to connect with you someone in your area. Cheers, Tammy Bay Area Vegetarians Map it Veg! http://www.frappr.com/baveg http://www.frappr.com/vegetarians ____ "This is my protest against the conduct of the world. To be a vegetarian is to disagree--to disagree with the course of things today. Starvation, world hunger, cruelty, waste, wars--we must make a statement against these things. Vegetarianism is my statement and I think it's a strong one." -- Isaac Bashevis Singer
