Guest guest
Sorry, but I feel the need to respond again.Jen Blum <jen wrote: "I believe Catwoman was referring to this part of the article:“... officials said Monday they were scrapping plans to create a separate classifieds category that would feature free ads from animal shelters and paid ads from breeders.”Maybe a follow-up letter-writing party is in order to clarify what animal activists are asking for." The AR alert that I brought to the letter-writing party did not mention "free ads from animal shelters" or anything along those lines. It was more generally about the sale of live animals and exotic animal body parts. Perhaps my mistake was in assuming that the letters we wrote were related to the news article. When you write "Maybe a follow-up letter-writing party is in order to clarify what animal activists are asking for," I think, great, why don't you organize one? The fact is that I do bother to organize letter-writing parties, to take the time to research issues, to bring paper, pens, stamps, and envelopes for everyone to use (all of which I pay for). I'm not perfect, but I hardly think my efforts on behalf of animals deserve accusations of "rabid letter-writing campaigns" and putting animals on "death row." This experience won't stop me from trying to speak out for animals -- it's certainly not their fault that I've been attacked in this way (well, that's what it feels like) -- but you know, it might have stopped me. Is that what we want here? To stop people who are trying? Thea
