Guest guest
Is anyone as fed up with the Morning Show as I am? On the rare occasions they have anything remotely related to animals rights, you can almost hear the suppressed snickering in their voices. Today really pushed me over the edge - they had a vegan chef on (from Millennium) and a live food chef. A woman called in to bring up animal rights as it related to veganism and she was completely dismissed. The whole issue was not at all addressed. I won't even go into the skeptical tone of voice about vegan eating. This is typical of them. Did anyone else hear the show today? Thoughts? Thanks for letting me rant - Moya Our first duty to our little brothers and sisters, the animals, is never to do them any harm. Our responsibilities do not end there, however. Guest guest
Hi Moya, I listen the show daily, usually between 7-8 am, so I did not hear Millennium's chef, however, I share your complaint and your concern. As an avid listener of KPFA, I have often been dismayed by their lack of veggie stories, particularly as it relates to the environment. They have dozens of stories on environmental degradation, but none touch factory farming. I wrote to them in September to propose several different veggie show ideas (environment/human and animal rights related) and did not even receive a response. I was extremely disappointed. I suggest calling and writing. Perhaps you could even write a proposal for a show, in addition to voicing your concern/complaint and the BAVeg community can sign on and include their own thoughts-- a petition of sorts. This is something I have been very disgruntled about and I would be willing to take further action if we had broad support. Does anyone else have suggestions? Guest guest
Regarding the recent posts about the KPFA Morning Show: What a coincidence that Christine was on the show earlier today about EBAA's cruelty investigation and complaint regarding Foster Farms ( http://www.fosterfacts.net/wst_page7.html ). If you missed the show, here's the link to the archives online (thanks Christine!) http://www.kpfa.org/archives/index.php?arch=11643it's a short news segment about 1:08 min into the show However, I agree, it would be wonderful for KPFA to have a regular, entire program dedicated to animal issues. Anyone is welcome to propose a project for Bay Area Vegetarians as an organization to undertake, especially if it comes with folks willing to work on it. :-) If there is enough interest in this particular idea, perhaps a brainstorming meeting or further discussion should happen separately. One underutilized feature of is a "chat" option that could be useful in having virtual meetings since people in the group are so spread apart.
