Guest guest
Firefighters become vegan to become healthier and better firefighters. And they make an entertaining web site about their decision. Now that's potent good news. What a terrific story. A local story from Austin TX makes the mainstream media in a prime Sunday airslot. My ears grew larger when I heard the unusual story. And their web illustrations posing firefighters with fruits and veggies and low Cholest. levels were really inspiring. I believe they are new American heros. I imagine there were additional unseen heros helping that story reach the national news. I see how it probably took a team of people, from web designers, photographers and supportive spouses and friends, to make that a story worthy of reaching the mainstream media. Networked to the top! And what an excellent punch it had when you could go to Engine2's web site and read more. We can do that! Let us try and find an unusual feel good story in our community and help it reach the national media. Austin's veg community is really strong. I bet that had a lot to do with the story finding a place on NPR. It would be instructive to hear 'the rest of the story'. Perhaps Veg News could look into it. Wide news coverage is an important addition to creating a tipping point for more people changing to a humane lifestyle. I'm going to keep better atuned for local stories that could potentially be boosted to higher levels. Are there any stories locally right now that could use SFBAYVEG community support and boosting to make the mainstream media? Or is there a story in the making somewhere? We have quite a solid network here. There's a lot we can do with it. Mike Warner
