Guest guest
Hi Tammy, Excellent idea... going even further with the thought of getting a special deal from a store, I wonder if Turtle Island Foods would extend a good discount if you ordered directly. Their online ordering system says there is a 10% discount for ordering 4+ items, so perhaps they would offer a better discount for a much higher quantity and since it is a great cause. Couldn't hurt to ask! Tofurkey site - http://www.tofurkey.com/default.htm Ordering - http://www.healthy-eating.com/turtle.html I would gladly donate money for the tofurkeys for the food bank at Christmas. I'm attending a Thanksgiving "celebration" this year where there will be dead turkeys, and feeling more sad as the time approaches. I've already adopted a beautiful turkey through Farm Sanctuary to attone for the ignorance of the people who i'll be spending Thanksgiving with! Although, I won't inform them in such blunt words . Please let me know if you want any help organizing this. -Jill Reyman Message: 3 Sat, 19 Nov 2005 08:40:45 -0800 "Tammy, Bay Area Vegetarians" <tFW: SF Food Bank Needs TOFURKYS!"SF Food Bank .. said they serve a number of vegetarian and vegan clientseach day. They also said that last Thanksgiving they distributed about 23Tofurkys and are hoping to see that number grow. Please help out our lessfortunate vegan friends if you can and donate a Tofuky for Thanksgiving tothe SF Food Bank. ... You can drop them off at their warehouse on 900Pennsylvania (at 23rd) in SF Monday-Friday 9-5pm, or on Saturday from9-1pm." Thanks for sharing this, Warren! For folks who don't live in SF and want to contribute, try contacting asimilar organization in your city. And, I'm wondering, is there enough interest that we can organize somethingfor December? It could be as simple as collecting money to buy Tofurkys todonate to the SF Food Bank, or we can try to be more organized (example -contact local stores that sell Tofurkys who may give us a discount or sellat wholesale). If you would be interested in helping or donating topurchase a Tofurky, please email me so we can coordinate efforts.
