Guest guest
Hi folks Just wanted to report back on an excellent dinner at the recently opened "Vegetarian Gourmet" restaurant in San Mateo. Although this restaurant is vegetarian (not vegan), they have been very diligent in reviewing all their faux meats to determine which ones are vegan. I spoke to the owner (Yaping) at the restaurant and she explained that most of their faux meats are vegan, except for the ones used in the veggie beef dishes. For the "beef" dishes, the "Chen Pi Vegetarian Beef" has vegan faux beef, but the other faux beef dishes are vegetarian, not vegan. So, just a FYI for the vegans. For anyone who has been there and noticed a similarity to the foods at Garden Fresh, we found out why. They are using the same supplier for their food ingredients, *and* their cook is from Garden Fresh. The "Chen Pi Vegetarian Beef" is very similar to the "Orange Beef" at Garden Fresh. With four of us, we had a seven course meal for $15 each (tax/tip included), and even had a little bit of leftovers to take home. The restaurant is downtown, but at the edge, and street parking is pretty easy. (Much, much easier than SF) Cheers, Tammy Best of Veg 2005 survey - http://bayareaveg.org/vote Oct SF dinner - 10/28 - http://www.evite.com//sfdinner_oct2005 Nov Compassionate Living Program - Holiday Celebrations: Survival Tips, Techniques, and Strategies Discussion Forum - http://www.bayareaveg.org/forum Event Calendar - http://www.BayAreaVeg.org/events Generation V - Voice of the Vegan Generation - podcast and blog
