Guest guest
Eating engineered/cloned meat is definitely still a carnivorous edifice and though perhaps EVENTUALLY decreasing the direct harm to animals it would in no way serve to end the cruelty to animals in continuing to associate them as a food product furthering the recognition of animals to an even lower level then already suffered effectively exaggerating them as mere exploitable object. Already this denial of animals as valued in their own life experience independent of our utility of them is destructive enough coupled with the Western cultural practice of the removal of recognition between where meat is from and as it appears in a market or on the menu; this new act of engineering direct " meat " would profoundly threaten animals with a new denigrated humiliation as to completely remove the actual association of the meat from it's animal origin there by freeing humans of any association to cruelty with eating meat and complete the denial of origin in the production of meat. Already this is demonstrated in the question " would vegetarians eat engineered meat? " Animals are not here for us to manipulate. To engineer the animal meat is to exploit the value of animal life with less value then an engineered plastic and that is too grotesque. No doubt engineered " guiltless " fur coats will be the next fashion for those whom eat engineered meats. To accept eating engineered/clone meat as an act not equivalent of eating the whole animal then I am move to ask how it would differ to eat " meat " that is engineered/cloned from a human? Please remember we're discussing " meat " here and not full body complete organism. So would that be an acceptable alternative to cannibalism? Anyone care for some Clone Caviar? Human or animal would it really matter after all its engineered " cruelty free meat " and it seems people are making a distinction that it is acceptable to eat " meat " of any sort at least of the animal variety since it is so removed from the actual direct sentient organism and considered effectively non physically destructive or cruel.Sorry, either of those taste I can't suffer in my mouth. One could probably breed brain dead cows right now too that had never lived in awareness nor suffered thusly and have them on some macabre machinery of " life support " to enable comprehensive harvesting of viable animal meats and organs from these brain dead animals but it would still be grotesque and abuse all sensibility of the real inherent living value of animals. At least with the human donated cells for growth of " meat " you could be assured it was consentual. > Thinking of the taste of the engineered/clone " meat " , it is generally understood present meat bio organic or engineered or otherwise gets its taste in significant part based on what the animal ate...I.E a cow eating corn feed or a cow eating natural pastures contributes effectively to the taste. So this engineered/cloned " meat " would still be at it's most basic base nutrient level derived of corn or pasture grasses or some other basic vegetable matter to provide nourishment for the development and growth of the " meat " as well as to influence and contribute to the flavors expected. The production of these engineered/cloned meats would as such need gross amounts of resources to provide for the nourishment and development of these meats as well as areas to produce them, still rivaling in consumption resources in use for direct vegetative production. > I personally think it would take more resources to make a pound of " meat " that let's not forget would be based on vegetative nutrients versus producing a pound of real vegetables. Consider also the producers and packagers of these mega " meat " factories would no doubt incur incidents of spoiled, unsaleable meat which could pose interesting disposal needs the likes of a bio hazard. > Greater industrial advances of producing the engineered/cloned meats would accordingly lead to the provision of engineered/cloned organs of animals; as some people or as corporations like to call us some " consumers " prefer eating organs of animals. Presently many are revolted at the possibility of cloning our own human organs to save our own lives but scientist undeterred are still willing to clone animals or their parts there of for consumption. > So I am prone to wonder; is someone going to be eating the engineered tongue or heart of an animal? I wonder too if that heart would have ever beaten or just be a dead heart though somehow living viable meat? And what of a " meat " brain of an animal? Which makes me really begin to wonder of the implications there of eating a " meat " brain especially as it would be a brain that has never been alive...So does that make it brain dead meat? I guess regardless after you have killed an animal directly to eat of it's brain or bio engineered its brain out of direct relation to it's body of origin for direct consumption either way you are eating brain dead meat So in remembering as some of the wiser have said " we are what we eat " I'll stay a maiden of the corn head variety. Continuing with such massive scale clone/engineered cultivation of essentially every organ/body part of the animal being created and consumed we can suppose essentially the manufacturers would have a massive cloning of a set group of animals as the preferred origin of the production. (No doubt from an engineered stock of " perfect animals " .)So essentially those eating this " meat " would be partaking of the flesh of a singular cloned animal available in production from the set group of animal stock. > I.E...10,000 people eating 10, 00 " meat patties " all > cloned from the same one animal potentially generation after generation maybe with a few innovations in direct grown flavor enhanced spiced meat patties no doubt which would be appealing to mega corporations (who I won't give any value to in naming but we know who they are)whom would want proprietary formulations of consumable name branded products .. This idea numerically is disturbing. Over time it could create some interesting exploitable weaknesses in our own genetic lines. Imagine a person in some future date eating the same exact engineered/clone animal meat as their great grandparent ate. What is to come from that? Even in vegetables I don't think that is a sound practice. Assuming the exploited stock of animals isn't harmed in the initial cultivaion of cells to produce these " meats " which initially it would be.(Read details from the companies)I wonder also what animals would these cells continue to come from? Probably female animals I think since the majority of animals consumed are female thus continuing to exploit yet again the maternal flesh in a wholly gross new way. To achieve this end I question then too would the meats be engineered with hormonal influence to ensure correct development? Again " consumers " of meat are will potentially be vulnerable to the influence of contamination fom over produced hormonal influences in generated meats along with the other compareable ill fated health complications a meat directed diet generates in humans. The health complications from this are many. > > Quoting from the article " Growing the meat without the animal could reduce the need to keep millions of animals in cramped conditions " . Let's replace the insufficient word " cramped " with the more apropos word " cruel " and we can address that statement appropriately with a declaration that there is no NEED now to continue the cruel condition of keeping those animals period as presently we collectively can " reduce " the number of animals suffering by our instigation to zero. > > The kind of statement aforementioned is nothing short of sickening in it's minimilization of the absolute gross scale of cruel horror inflicted upon animals needlessly. Millions! The continued scale of these consumptive genocides far exceeds millions in cramped conditions. The engineered/cloned " meats " regardless of direct violence perpetrated against animals would be nothing but a tasteless legacy of these horrors that were committed. The " enjoyment " of these " guilt free meats " would be a reprehensive denial of the gross atrocities committed on animals in the industrialized production of them and negate the historical atrocities of the factory ranchers, concentration feedlots, corporations and consumers alike. > The continuation in eating any form of actual meat engineered or otherwise also poses to condition us in our evolutionary growth to a point where we will no longer be viable vegetarians with a compassionate choice and our children will be indentured to the evolutionary throws of continued and potentially increasingly carnivoristic culture that is a comprehensive threat to any humanitarian service we do on this planet. > > The consumption of engineered/cloned " GUILT FREE > Meat " > would only truly be of service to an industry that makes its profit by publicizing the stigma that meat is a necessary part of our collective diet. These money hungry producers of engineered/cloned meat under their false guise of humanitarian advance would continue to provoke the hungry demand for their insidious product as they increasingly brainwash future generations with their " meat is necessary propaganda " . Brainwashing to the acceptability of satiation with " guilt free meat " would only serve to negate the origins of its grotesque history while really continuing to feed the already corporate money hungry obese. Meat is NOT needed by humans. It may be a practice on our part that begets from the same contingent nature in us that evokes war, an act of over aggressive self serving survival that comes with destruction and violence it is not now nor will it ever be needed. The perpetuity of it in any form even engineered cultured cloned cell " meat " as culturally acceptable is destructive to us and transgresses the truth of our racial potential as peaceful, loving, benevolent beings capable of reasoning and compassion to ALL other beings regardless. The engineering of meat is yet another negligent act of diverting much needed resources away from solving real problems while engineering new ones. > I believe it is imperative now that we on behalf of the animals and ourselves and on behalf of the vulnerable future generations whom are subject to all of our acts thwart ourselves from being subjected to the potential of becoming the inundated propaganda " cruelty free, meat hungry " masses. It is crucial we stay aware and informed to the truths and connected to our emotional intelligence knowing the detailed truth of the horrors committed upon animals which continues to be a vivid reflection to present human culture under the pretence of abataing hunger. In doing so we can continue to provide a clear understanding from the context in which the " engineered cloned meats " are of origin from and how their posed inundation into our culture as a viable means of nourishment and " guilt free " is a vital threat to the critical understanding of sanctity that is life. > I really have a great hope Humanity as a whole will continue to consciously participate in an increased emotionally intelligent manner as an informed conscious people and choose wisely with compassionate wisdom to abandon the gross consumption of meat engineered or otherwise. Of this Earth as it is now and as it was long ago there are too many delicious vegetables, fruits, nuts and more in the garden to satiate our hunger. The only need now to satiate is the need to satiate the end of suffering that we are all responsible for surpassing. Continuing to choose wisely what we eat will greatly service us all in achieving this... Sincerely, Nikki Lee I offer understanding wherever I am standing; between reason, passion, balance.
