Guest guest
hi everyone- I wanted to send along a plug for a weekly vegetarian cooking/social event put on by one of my friends--check out the description below- I highly encourage all of you to check it out. I just came home from last night's event with tons of yummy veg paella and veg tom kha soup! For you vegans out there, there is always options to make some of the dishes vegan. Frugal Foodies happens every Tuesday. About 12 people get together in Berkeley to cook a mostly organic and totally vegetarian meal, eat, clean-up, and meet new friends. There are never the same group of 12 people on any given Tuesday, so every week is a different experience. All shopping for a 3-course meal is done ahead of time from the $7 (so inexpensive!) you pay for admission. Some nights the menu is chosen in advance by the host, other nights there is a guest chef, and on one night a month (the first Tuesday, I believe) there are no recipes--you get to use a bunch of cookbooks and creativity to make dinner. Last night's menu Vegetarian Paella Tom Kha Gai (without the Gai=chicken) Soup Jalepeno Cornbread Yogurt Herb Quickbread Bunuelos (Fritters topped with cinnamon sugar) You will be encouraged to bring tupperware or other containers, for there's always lots of food left over to take home. Email Moses for more info: enlight. Enjoy and have fun-- hope to see you there one Tuesday!Smruti
