grassroots veg activist meeting this Tuesday

Hey everyone,

This Tuesday some of us will be gathering over dinner to look at a calendar

and plan out a schedule of events that we feel will be good opportunities

for promoting vegetarianism. We will especially look at concerts, festivals,

and other events with a lot of people and a good demographic to leaflet and

to bring out at TV with VCR and show factory farming footage. The idea is to

strengthen grassroots efforts in and around San Francisco by being in better

communication with other activists and planning further ahead and more

strategically. Hopefully, face-to-face meetings will also increase

individual accountability and motivation (I definitely believe it will for

me) and will hopefully help deepen the veg community and our bonds with one

another as well. The plan is to have a meeting like this each month, and to

definitely have a social component (this time we will meet at my house and

order in some food, maybe Panhandle Pizza?; in the future, we can meet at a

different restaurant or person's house), although the main matter at hand

will be figuring out good uses of our activist time and ways that people can

plug in.

 

Everyone interested in grassroots vegetarian outreach is welcome to attend!

If you have never leafleted or done any sort of outreach before, even

better! It's great to get new people involved, and it's perfect to link new

people together with more experienced activists who will feel comfortable

and can be reassuring or answer any questions. If you have no idea what

vegetarian outreach would even look like, don't worry about it! It's

extremely gratifying, usually really fun, and we will make sure that you

will feel good about it when you go! (There's no commitment expected just by

attending the meeting, though.)
