While this event usually happens on the 1st Sun. in SF, this month's program has a special date and our Oct. event will be in San Mateo. This month : Opening Cages and Opening Minds: The Campaign against the Battery Cage A talk by Paul Shapiro, manager of the factory farming campaign at The Humane Society of the United States As activists in Europe continue to ban the most abusive intensive confinement systems for farm animals, the U.S. is just beginning to make our first strides against standard factory farming practices. Learn more about the national campaign to end what is perhaps the cruelest factory farming practice: battery cages for egg-laying hens. Shapiro will discuss what progress has been made in recent years to improve the plight of laying hens and how each one of us can help in the campaign to free these birds from their cages Full Details/RSVP: http://www.bayareaveg.org/events.htm?EID=960#
