I was going to post about Helmand but Nat beat me to it. However, his

message makes it sound like Helmand is only open for a lunch buffet and

that it is not open for dinner during the week. This is not true, as I've

been there for dinner twice during the week. The lunch buffet consists of

almost all the menu options, so it's very varied! It's also open until 10

pm every night and the other night they let us stay until 11! (Not that we

plan to do that every time, they're just accomodating.)

 

Most of the vegetarian entrees and appetizers come with yogurt sauce but

at least at dinner, you can order them without. The Sabzi (spinach),

Bowlawni (appetizer), eggplant and pumpkin, and leek ravioli are

delicious.

Afghan restaurant in sanfrancisco

 

Just wandered in to this afghan restaurant called Helmand on broadway

and montgomery. Lots of vegetarian options eventhough it caters both

veg and non-veg customers. During lunch time its buffet and not open

for dinner during the week. I feel its definetly worth a try if you do

not mind. their website is http://www.helmandsf.com/. I also understand

from my brother they have one in boston, MA . Just thought would let

everybody know.
