Guest guest
Hi, I was talking to a friend a few days ago who works for a marketing research company that has been hired by Converse. She was telling me about some of her findings, when I asked her why Converse doesn't market to the vegan/AR community. " Well, " she replied, " because Converse AREN " T vegan. " " HUH!?! " I replied. According to what the company told her, there's something used around the eyelets on the inside of the shoe that is an animal product. I had never heard this before. Where I come from Converse are THE vegan stand-by. Anyway, I found these " No Sweat Sneakers " which look like Converse but are definitely vegan and also not made in sweatshops (something that can't be said about Converse, a company owned by NIke). http://www.nosweatapparel.com/miva/ merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY & Category_Code=NSS Anyway, thought I'd share since if it's true (and I have no reason to doubt what my friend was told by the Converse company people) it's total news to me! --Michelle
Guest guest
There are also these Ecosneaks (converse look-a-likes) from what is probably the most environmentally friendly, animal friendly and worker friendly shoe company out there, Shoes with Souls. All their shoes are vegan, sweatshop free and many are made with earth friendly materials. They rock! Check them out! http://shoeswithsouls.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=ECOSNEAKS I bought mine at Otsu on 16th street in San Francisco.
