Topics of discussion will include a summary of California’s factory farms in the meat, dairy and egg industries; local activism; identifying the regulatory agencies responsible for overseeing factory farms; getting politically involved; participating in campaigns; examining the welfare concerns of the most common farmed animals in California; and much more. Who: ACT workshop speakers include lauren Ornelas, director of Viva!USA; Kim Sturla, director of Animal Place; Joyce Tischler, executive director of the Animal Legal Defense Fund; Brent Newell of the Center for Race, Poverty & the Environment; and Colleen Patrick-Goudreau, founder of Compassionate Cooks.
