Thanks, Tammy Tammy, Bay Area Vegetarians [t] Thursday, August 04, 2005 8:54 PMBAV mail list ( ); 'Team-BAVeg '8/7 Sunday, SF, Effective Communication for Veg*n Advocacy, Family & Friends Effective Communication for Veg*n Advocacy, Family & Friends - Sunday, 8/7, 3-5 pm Nora Kramer, the featured speaker for this month's Compassionate Living program says, "even if you don't consider yourself an activist, like it or not, in the eyes of every carnivore who knows you and asks you dumb (or not so dumb) questions about veg'ism, you are a veg spokesperson." Nora Kramer is an experienced and passionate advocate for animals. She volunteers with the Empathy Project and does humane education presentations at local schools and runs the BAARN list, Bay Area Animal Rights Network. Learn how she uses her voice to speak for the animals, and how you can, too! So, whether you're a new or aspiring vegetarian or long-time vegan, come learn and share effective communication strategies and styles useful for everyday situations at work, at home, as well as public outreach. Being well-informed and experienced at how to answer common questions helps us become better advocates for animals and vegetarianism/veganism, and just have more comfortable and enjoyable dining experiences with non-veg family and friends. You are also welcome to join us for dinner after the presentation. Here are some FAQs about vegetarianism. http://www.askcarla.com/Q & A-Vegan.asp?CategoryID=5 & Category=Veg http://www.goveg.com/feat/faq.asp http://www.tryveg.com/cfi/toc/?v=08faq At this event we can certainly discuss questions that people have problems with, but it would be great to focus more on the "HOW" of effective communication and do more practicing and role playing answering questions (if people feel comfortable and want the experience), so check out the FAQs. When: Sunday, 8/7, 3-5 pm Where: Cellspace, 2050 Bryant Street, SF. Details: http://www.bayareaveg.org/events.php?EID=776#776 Speaker: Nora Kramer, http://www.bayareaveg.org/blog/index.php?blog=10 & title=nora_kramer After the presentation, we'll be going to dinner. Please indicate on your RSVP your interest in that, or just let us know after the presentation. Cheers, Tammy Bay Area Vegetarians
