Guest guest
This is short notice, but most of you probably know that this week there are dozens of festivities for World Environmental Day, which is being celebrated internationally here in San Francisco. In addition to being a great opportunity for us all to learn more about the environment and to network with likeminded people, this is also a great opportunity to reach out to environmentalists about vegetarianism, an often-neglected and –marginalized but crucial environmental issue. I have lots of “Think you can be a meat-eating environmentalist?” flyers and “try Vegetarian” brochures that would be great to distribute. I’ll be going to a couple of events to leaflet at, but if anyone wants to either hand out leaflets or just make sure there are leaflets out on a table or something at an event, I’m going to leave a stack of flyers outside my front door for people to pick up. My address is 1042 Haight St. between Baker and Broderick. For a (partial) list of events, see www.wed2005.org. One great place, in particular, to leaflet at, would be June 4, the day that Al Gore is going to be at The Green Film Festival http://www.greenscreenfilmfestival.org/ to introduce The Real Dirt on Farmer John, which shows at 4:30 pm on Saturday, 6/4. Also, the opening ceremonies at Civic Center are just getting under way as I write this, and will be going on until noon today, if anyone is able to go leaflet there. Feel free to just come by and pick up flyers but it would be great if you could email me to let me know if you (plan to) come by and which events you’ll be going to. Hope everyone’s enjoying this beautiful weather and our lovely Bay Area environment this week! Nora
