Guest guest
There are several important action alerts (animal welfare situations requiring input from the public) and pending legislation right now. For one, the USDA is considering loosening its ban on slaughter of downed cows for human consumption, such that cruel treatment of injured cows could be reinstated. Join Bay Area Vegetarians as we write letters to protest such actions, on Tuesday, May 17 at 7pm at Au Coquelet Cafe in Berkeley. Handwritten letters are known to have a great impact on legislators and organizations with a stake in public opinion. I'll provide overviews of current action alerts and legislation, and guidelines for writing letters. Just bring yourself, and the names of your representatives: http://www.vote-smart.org/ Au Coquelet Cafe is at 2000 University Ave. at Milvia St., downtown Berkeley (in back room, at table under the clock). (near BART) Please RSVP: http://www.bayareaveg.org/events.php?EID=740#740 Thanks, and on behalf of the animals, hope to see you there! -Sara This event is worth 3000 points in the Advocacy Rewards Program! http://www.bayareaveg.org/arp/htm
