Guest guest
Hi all I have been forwarding the post about Former Vegetarians to a friend of mine , she turned vegan a few months ago and had mentioned to me a coupel of times about feeling 'light-headed' She asked me to forward this to the group: ------------------------ I think I’m mostly feeling pretty well these days. Sometimes tired, but I am also doing more physical labor than I used to do. I haven’t felt light-headed in some weeks now. I am happy to have found the nutrition book I told you about: “Becoming Vegan,” by Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina. I’m still just looking at the book now and then and haven’t quite yet incorporated its advice into my eating habits, but bits and pieces are helping. - BTW, I thought of replying to the “former vegetarians” post with this info, or even better, a similar but more abbreviated online source that I found at earthsave just the other day: “Healthy Beginnings Care Package.” Not sure if I can post to BAVeg though. Do you know if anyone replied to that person’s questions? If not with nutrition info, would you be willing to send these links? The first one is really where one should start, -- By taking the VegPledge, you promise to shift towards a plant based diet for the next 60 days. That can mean, depending on your current eating habits: adding more plant foods to your diet; going vegetarian; or going vegan! http://www.vegpledge.com/index.htm But it looks like anyone could just go straight to this page to download the nutrition primer -- http://www.vegpledge.com/download.htm I do agree, though, that an ethical/compassion basis would be a much stronger motivation than general health for sticking it out through the dietary adjustment and problem-solving rather than just knee-jerk reversion to one’s previous eating habits. This has been true for me so far (hope it continues!). I have not been known for my will-power regarding dietary change for health or weight maintenance reasons, but to date the vegan changes have posed few problems for me because of what they mean. ---------end of firend's comments ------------------ Veena Achar Save Orangutans and the rainforests www.orangutan.net
