Veggie Star in Berkeley closed due to lack of business. The owners for a long time wanted a bigger store space. They are the same owners of Golden Lotus and Golden Era.

Vege House in SF will reopen soon. I was told they were on vacation. (I think it's more than that. They closed without any notice in the beginning.)

 

This place is a hole in the wall and looks like it too. The food, however is good and clean. The owner doesn't have money to pay for remodeling.

 

You can custom order ahead of time vegan dim sum type food such as their stuffed Jalapeno, Vietamese Crepes, etc.. People rave about their vegan chow mein, made with vegan noodles, but unfortunately not enough people are supporting this business....If Vege House comes back again, I'll do a dining out there.

Shan Dong Restaurant, 330-10th Street in Oakland's Chinatown, 510 839 2299, offers vegan frozen dumplings(can be cooked like potstickers), 50 for $13.95. It's a great deal. If you order over 200 pieces, with 3 days notice, you can request NO MSG in your order.

 

If they cook it for you, it's 10 for $5.

 

The dumplings tastes better if you cook it like potstickers. (Erhhung has tried it before)

 

This is a great party appetizer! Since this place also caters to the Buddhist community, there's no garlic or onion in the dumplings.

 

They told me if you say you are vegetarian, the vegetarian dumplings will not be boiled with any meat items. Many Buddhist monks and nuns come to this place.

 

I personally see mostly meat dishes whenever I eat at this restaurant. I recommend order the dumplings as take out and eat at the 4 other veggie restaurants that are nearby. (less than 6 blocks away)
