Greetings,

I'm a student at Merritt College in the nutrition/dietetics program,

and I love speaking up about veg*ism every chance I get. And I just

found another great opportunity to do so! On Wednesday, April 13th,

from 10am-1pm, Merritt College (Oakland) is holding their annual Health

Fair. I've been asked at the last minute to help with the table for the

Nutrition dept, so I'm scrambling to get some good handouts and

brochures to give away, with a little over a week to go.

Does anyone have extra brochures laying around that they could donate,

or know where/how I could get anything by the 13th? I'd prefer

something that focuses more on the health benefits as opposed to

animal-rights (since it is a health fair), but we'll take whatever we

can get!

Also might be a good Adopt-a-College opportunity if anyone wants to

stand outside and hand out brochures (or maybe they would let someone

have a table?)

Please e-mail me if you know of anything, or if you want more info on

the health fair. Thank you!

The Veg Starter guide from PCRM, whereas other guides combine health/nutrition with factory farming, etc. PCRM has a SF office -- maybe they have some extra that they can provide? Contact Claudia at cdelman

I think the 'Vegan Starter Pack' from Vegan Outreach is written from the health & nutrition perspective only

For anyone who is doing any type of veg outreach, please feel free to offer these resources from Bay Area Vegetarians

1) veggie mentor program - we have flyers that you can print

http://www.bayareaveg.org/articles/index.htm#flyers

2) Ultimate Guide to Vegetarian Living in the SF Bay Area

- it's always great to have a copy on hand to show folks the variety and availability of vegetarians foods in the Bay Area. The searchable database allows folks to create and print their own custom guide, or use a standard guide.

3) free membership to BAVeg

For anyone who visits your info booth, you are welcome to offer them a free membership to BAVeg if they sign up that day :-) I am happy to send a copy of our sign-up sheet if you want to offer this..

Good luck with your outreach!

Cheers,

Tammy
