Guest guest
April 2, 2005 ALERT! PLEASE DISPERSE AS YOU SEE FIT. As you know, the HSUS/Fund for Animals merger has resulted in the proposed closure of the San Francisco office of The Fund for Animals at Fort Mason, scheduled for May 1. Bad idea, most would agree. Not only would the closure negatively impact the important work that Virginia Handley does, it would wipe out the most important meeting place/resource center for Bay Area animal activists. And it would put Elisabeth Keller, long-time staff member, out of a job. Perhaps if Wayne Pacelle and Mike Markarian heard from enough of us, they might change their minds. And ask for a response, something more forthcoming than the slick " corporate down-sizing " explanation I've seen from Mr. Markarian. (Copy available upon request.) Can't be the money--monthly rental at Fort Mason is only $360, plus expenses, and HSUS/Fund together have nearly $100 million in assets. HAVE YOU WRITTEN YOUR SUPPORT LETTER YET IN FAVOR OF KEEPING THAT OFFICE OPEN/ IF SO, PLEASE SEND ME A COPY. IF NOT, PLEASE DO SO IMMEDIATELY. TIME IS SHORT. I NEED THESE LETTERS ASAP FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. DON'T LET VIRGINIA, ELISABETH, THE ANIMALS AND THE ACTIVISTS DOWN! PLEASE CONTACT: Wayne Pacelle, President Mike Markarian, V.P.
