Guest guest
HAVE A BEER, SAVE A MOON BEAR! Throughout Asia, thousands of endangered moon bears—so called for the golden crescent of fur on their chests—are kept captive and caged on bear farms, “milked” in a painful procedure for their gall bladder bile, which ends up in cosmetics and luxury items. Although bear bile is also used in traditional Chinese medicine, synthetic and herbal alternatives make this practice outmoded, cruel, and unnecessary. To date, Animals Asia Foundation (www.animalsasia.org) has rescued 130 bears, which now live at the Moon Bear Rescue Center in Chengdu, China, and is about to take in another 90 bears. We can make an immediate impact on Animals Asia’s rescue efforts, by raising money to free and support these beautiful, intelligent bears. $9,600 is enough to rescue one moon bear, and give him or her back a comfortable and stimulating life at the Moon Bear Rescue Center in China. Please join Lisa Owens, Ann Riley, Jim Harral, Juliet Lamont, Phil Price, and Beth Lamont for an afternoon fundraiser of food, drink, and original works and objects of art to help rescue a moon bear.
