Guest guest
Hi all I got this note from a friend who is vegetarian and is leaning toward going vegan. Any feedback is highly appreciated. If needed, please respond privately to veenaachar "As I was doing some research on how to increase my iron intake (since i have been diagnosed with anemia and an underactive thyroid), I bumped into the issue of phytates in some foods and how they inhibit the absorption of iron. That led me to this article (link below). I wanted to run this by you so you can tell me if this whole issue of soybeans being not entirely useful when not fermented is somewhat exaggerated. Another friend had already mentioned the possibility of too much soy inhibiting the thyroid - as per Andrew Weil-, and it is interesting that they call soy a goitrogen (something that inhibits thyroid activity). I feel like I no longer know how and what to eat!" - Maithrihttp://www.foodandhealing.com/article-newconceptsindiet2.htm ------------------------Veena AcharSave the rainforest www.ran.orghttp://www.ran.org/info_center/factsheets/01c.html
