Guest guest
Hi all My boyfriend and I just got home from eating at Fellini in Berkeley tonight, not sure if anyone has posted about it or not. (yes, it will go in the ultimate guide). It was % & *@#$ amazing!!! Lots of vegan options, and veganizing is available on lots of other items too. We started off with the Gypsy salad (mixed greens, capers, cucumbers, tomatoes, and vinaigrette, and added herbed tofu for extra) which was an amazing house salad, then had the Roasted Asparagus app. with garlic- a healthy portion of asparagus nicely done with garlic and lemon. Then, the piece de resistance.... the BEST, and i mean BEST vegan pizza i've ever had- it puts lanesplitters to shame. You all MUST try it to believe it. They can do (almost) any of their offerings vegan, crispy thin crust, and they have the oh so delicious Follow Your Heart Vegan (real vegan) cheeez that melts like heaven onto your delectable pizza. We were in a state of vegan orgasm. We also had a glass of an amazing red wine that was superb with our meal- nice wine list.To finish off, a soy cappucino is available too. Sorry to say no vegan desserts, but maybe in the future. Service was excellent too, we are going back there quite often, i'm sure of it. They also just started brunch on the weekends which is VERY vegan friendly. i peeped their menu on my way out, and it looks so scrumptious i'm going to go try it this sunday. Hash, tofu every which way, potatoes.... i know they aren't a vegan restaurant, but they are doing an excellent job with what they do offer vegan. In my opinion, they are doing vegan better than most vegan restaurants are attempting. It would be great to support these folks and let em know we're happy for their supporting vegan! and doing a damn fine job at it too! After reading that review in the east bay express about the two vegan joints, i was quite dissappointed. They made it sound like vegan food is bland and blah, oh- but it's good for you! Vegan food can taste amazing!!! For anyone that ever ate at millennium or sparks, you know! It just annoys me off when restaurants do a poor job showcasing vegan food, then people are left with a bitter taste in their mouth thinking it's terrible- "why would i wanna go vegan!". Granted, it's vegan and it's available, bless their hearts, but i'd rather stay home and cook delicious tasting food myself than pay to get tasteless food for an arm and a leg. Bottom line, i appreciate quality food that's vegan and scrumptious, and I'm happy there's another place providing that very thing. Here's a link i found with their info, buon appetito!!!!!!!!! http://www.shopinberkeley.com/f/fellini/index.php
