Guest guest
If you haven't been to the circus lately because you don't want to support animal abuse, then check out Circo Zero - a nouveau circus that doesn't use animals. Most " new " circuses choose not to use animals in part as a protest against the exploitation of performing animals, making it a fantastic form of entertainment that all animal advocates can enjoy & support. Circo Zero is one of the most unique nouveau circuses. Their performances blend diverse media genres and art forms - from peformance art and theater to dance and music - to explore profound political and spiritual themes. In the absence of animals, they create an intimate atmosphere that focuses more closely on the grace and agility of the troupe's human acrobats, aerialists, dancers and jugglers, who are able to express an amazing depth and range of emotion through movement. Plus, you may not believe your eyes when you see some of the dazzling physical feats they perform! Circo Zero is performing February 17 through March 6 at the Dance Mission Theater (3316 24th Street @ Mission) in San Francisco. Tickets range from $10 to $15, and (aside from opening night) Thursday is pay-what-you-want day. For tickets call 415-273-4633. Circo Zero deals with some pretty serious issues (like war & atrocity). According to their Website, the show may be " inappropriate for most children and some adults " (though most other nouveau circuses are great for kids). Visit their website at www.circozero.org for more infomation.
