Guest guest
Hi, just thought it was kind of odd that it hasn't been mentioned yet on this list that, as of last week, all three Urban Forage locations in San Francisco are now closed. I'm not privvy to any details as to why, but it certainly must have been an expensive operation to maintain. For whatever reason it happened and even if you're not a fan, it's really too bad that Urban Forage is gone and it serves as a good reminder that we need to make that extra effort to support veg restaurants (where our money doesn't go towards buying meat and there's no chance that we'll eat it accidentally) if we want them around. best, yvonne Otsu www.veganmart.com
Guest guest
I noticed last Sunday night that the Valencia Street had empty windows and a sign on the door saying " Urban Forage closed until further notice " . Did a google search and found an article and comments at sfindybay.org (our local indymedia website). I haven't looked back there since last weekend, so maybe there's more info there now. Apparently all 3 stores have closed, it may or may not have something to do with a lawsuit going on in SF Superior Court. I meant to post here about it right away but got busy and forgot to, so you beat me to it, Yvonne. Anyone else have any more info? It's strange, because just two days before I walked by there, I phoned them about something, got no indication they would be closing. Guest guest
it's also sad to lose a committed green business. urban forage made a strong effort to recycle, compost, and use sustainable materials (such as compostable plastic take-out utensils) in every aspect of running the business. having them around was a living example of how one could run a business while reducing your impact on the earth's resources. i hope that other businesses follow their lead. we all believe that avoiding animal products is worthwhile and important, but being a good steward of the environment is good for the animals too (even the human animals).
