Hello Fellow Veggies,

Do you want to get away from the hectic holidays and have a peaceful New Years Eve? I do! I'm proposing camping at Big Basin State Park between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz.

When: Dec 31 2004 noon to Jan 2 noon 2005

Where: http://www.bigbasin.org

What to Bring:

1. Waterproof tent. Tent cabins are also available 37.50 per night 50.00 Sat nights

2. Firewood

3. Food and cooking equiptment

4. Of course warm sleeping bag and warm clothing and hat

5. Campsites are 20.00 per car per night

6. I'll keep you posted if I think of any other vital/interesting things

Things to do to stay warm during winter camping:

1. Hiking!

2. Cooking! I'm an excellent outdoor veg gourmet cook (techniques developed over the past 10 years, there ain't nothing I can't make even during the most temultuous storm)

3. Campfires

If you've never been camping during Californias winter season, it's really not that cold.

If you are interested I need to know:

1. your RSVP by Dec 20

2. phone number and city

3. whether you want a tent cabin

I hope you can come!!! Please email me with any questions.

Regards,

Mirella

ABOUT BIG BASIN:

Best Place to Go Camping Without Driving All Day

Walk-in camping amongst the redwoods, tent cabins with wood stoves, great hiking trails, seeming isolation, and it's all to be found between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz at Big Basin Redwoods State Park. This was California's first state park, and it remains one of the finest. The hike to see Berry Creek Falls is worth the trip alone. Bring a bike, as it's the best way to get around in these mountains. At 16,000 acres, the park is far too big to see on foot, and viewing it from a car pretty much defeats the purpose of going there. The park has lots of walk-in campsites, but for those who don't feel like roughing it, also has 35 tent cabins and more than 100 R.V. hookups. Despite that, it somehow manages to feel secluded. If you need to stock up on groceries and firewood, head down the road to Boulder Creek. Call well in advance to make reservations; since it is such a magnificent park so close to San Francisco and San

Jose, it fills up early. To make reservations, call Parknet at 1-800-444-7275. The park charges a small fee to make the arrangements (under $7), but it's the only way to be assured of a space. 21600 Big Basin Highway, Boulder Creek. (408) 338-8860.
