Guest guest
Does anyone know if a film called "The Future of Food" which will be showing at the Castro Theater in San Francisco on November 11 is VEGAN FRIENDLY or not? I understand it's about GMOs but I'm wondering if it's Pro Vegan or not. Warren

I don't know anything about the movie per se but I do recall seeing that the first showing is benefitting Slow Food, which is not animal friendly, since they eat and cook animals, and perhaps in a fashion that legitimizes eating animals.... so in that sense the first screening is not supportive of animals. If it is, my experience has been that Slow Food puts forward a most attractive face, but they're a disaster for the animals. If they stuck to plants, I would enthusiastically support what they do. As it is, the sustainability piece has worked wonderfully well to stave off frank dialogue about the extent to which they profit from animal exploitation. To me, it's made worse by the fact that so much of it is supported by wealthy consumers (who could easily make different choices). The Slow Food Cookbook is pretty easy to find. You might look over a copy and see what you think. Cathleen
