*November 2004 Special Alert*

As family and friends gather for Thanksgiving this year, nearly

45 million turkeys will be killed for holiday dinners across

America. Both industrially- and free-range-raised turkeys live

in confinement and are subjected to ongoing physical injury to

produce meat products.

Since 1975, turkey consumption has increased by 113 percent, the

National Turkey Federation reports. By the end of 2004, an

estimated 263 million turkeys will make their way to a final,

unfortunate destination--the slaughterhouse.

You Can Help

Join East Bay Animal Advocates this holiday season to protect

turkeys. Through public outreach in the San Francisco Bay Area,

EBAA will inform consumers about the plight of turkeys and give

individuals effective tools for reducing farmed animal

suffering. To volunteer, email info

or call (925) 487-4419.

Learn how you can help:

* On November 6 7, EBAA will have an exhibit at the 2004 Green

Festival in San Francisco. This is the perfect

opportunity to inform environmentally-conscious individuals

about the lives of turkeys, especially free-range birds. If

you are interested in staffing the exhibit, we would love

your help.

* One of the best ways to raise awareness about factory

farming is to serve free vegetarian food to holiday

shoppers. Outside food markets in the East Bay, advocates

will distribute information on vegetarianism and serve

delicious vegetarian 'turkey' to customers. Join EBAA at a

vegetarian feed-in:

November 9

Time: 6:30 PM

Location: Safeway, 3747 Grand Avenue, Oakland

November 14

Time: 1 PM

Location: Trader Joe's, 5700 Christie Avenue, Emeryville

November 21

Time: 1 PM

Berkeley

* To increase public visibility of animal suffering and abuse,

EBAA's mobile outreach unit travels the streets of the

East Bay screening video footage of animals harmed in food

production. Join EBAA on an excursion:

November 16

Time: 7:30 PM

Location: Oakland

November 23

Time: 7:30 PM

* For the month of November, EBAA has 'A Turkey's Life' Exhibit

at the City Hall Building in Pleasanton. Encourage your

friends and family in the Tri-Valley to visit the display.

Creative Ways to Support Our Work

Your support is vital to East Bay Animal Advocates' education

and rescue work.

Learn how you can support our work:

*Sponsor a Feed-In*

For only $10, you can supply the food and materials for one

of EBAA's upcoming feed-ins.

*Stamp Out Cruelty*

Since www.free-range-turkey.com was launched last month,

EBAA has received a surge of requests for free vegetarian

beginner guides from folks across the country. Help EBAA mail

out the guides by donating stamps. To purchase stamps, please

visit www.usps.com.

*Contribute to The Adam Fund*

In June 2004, Adam, a poult (baby turkey), was rescued by EBAA

from a factory farm in California. During his life on earth,

Adam served as a true ambassador for his species, touching so

many lives. On August 11, 2004, Adam unexpectedly passed away.

As a tribute to his life, EBAA established 'The Adam Fund'.

Contributions to the fund will directly aid animals rescued by

EBAA's Animal Bureau of Investigations.
