Guest guest
Did anyone attend the free dinner hosted by Manzanita Restaurant? If so, how was it? Thanks, Lisa
Guest guest
There was a large turnout (I heard the official count was close to 300 people), which as you can imagine made it somewhat chaotic when it came to getting everyone organized and fed. The food itself was wonderful .... Manzanita served: Mixed Green Salad with lemon mustard vinaigrette dressing Red Lentil Soup with carrots, celery and onion in a savory broth Steamed KaleShort-grain Brown RiceGingered Onion Anasazi BeansBaked Vegetables -- zucchini, cauliflower, lotus root and winter squash -- in a yummy sauce (some type of curry coconut)Bancha Twig Tea Plus five different vegan desserts :-) Everything was delicious, but if I had to pick favorites, it would be the soup and the baked vegetables. Our plates were heaped with food. We met the owners of the restaurant, George French and his wife, and the Tibetan family that creates all the yummy dishes as well as their pastry chef. It was nice to see some familiar faces but the majority were new to me, so its nice to see (1) non-veg people coming to events and/or (2) there's even a larger veg community out there that doesn't come to typical veg events. Definitely a great evening, thank you to Manzanita Restaurant! :-) Cheers, Tammy BEST OF VEG 2004 -- Vote and Win!
