Guest guest
http://www.sfbg.com/39/03/x_meatless.html I recommend the Laksa (curry noodles), Tumeric Rice with curry " chicken " (fabulous), and Mixed Vegetables. The eggplant is not bad, the portions are quite big. they have a new dish called steamed vegetable buns that are fabulous. It fills the void of dim sums dishes we usually can't eat. Most non-buddist vegetarians, avoid ordering the fake meats. Whenever I sub the fake meats with tofu or make them do anything special for me, I try to give them extra tips for their efforts. When you are a generous tipper, they usually will remember you. The wontons are so so. I heard the wontons with dried noodles are better. Someone has to tell them to make it better. (I don't order it myself, but someone said it needs improvement, please give positive suggestions to Hulu House) In summary, if you don't order the fake meats , you'll probably like the dish. If there's a dish you don't like just tell the waitress. If a small group of people want to go there for lunch (CHEAP) $5, please email me private. Any day but Tuesday, that's when they close. (Shangrila-SF also has inexpensive $5 lunches, includes, vegan egg rolls and soup) == THe author of the article, MIriam Wolf has done SO SO much for SF vegetarian restaurants. We are lucky to have her and her great column. She by the way, is a vegan with one vegan child. Of course, they love to go out to eat vegetarian food. Thank you, Miriam Wolf
