Guest guest
Hiya, Last Saturday, my neighbors called Oakland Animal Control to pick up their 13 year-old dog, Simba. In other words, they sent Simba off to be executed. Apparently he had been whining and groaning for about a week and had (very uncharacteristically) snapped at a couple of people in their house. They've had Simba since he was a little puppy, and, according to them, he has never done anything like that before. So, all I can think is that maybe Simba wasn't feeling very well. Maybe he had a toothache, or a stomach ache, or some arthritis pain or something. When dogs don't feel well, they sometimes snap at people in their households in order to get their attention. I have spent some time with Simba, he and my dog have played several times in their shared back yard. He is a sweetheart, as far as I can tell. So, Simba is, thankfully, still at the Oakland Shelter, awaiting evaluation, which will probably happen tomorrow. If he's evaluated as adoptable (as opposed as fit for execution), I would like to find him a home. I've called the shelter and they've made a note to his records that I would like to adopt him, so they are supposed to call me before they kill him. Simba's an un-neutered, 13-year-old, shepherd mix (I think -- he looks like he's got some rottie and maybe rhodesian ridgeback in him). He has been living with 3 adults and one 4 year-old child in an apartment. Please get in touch with me if you are able to help Simba. 510-499-6454. Thanks very much, Sandra _______________________________ Declare Yourself - Register online to vote today! http://vote.
