Many experts believe that the food industry has successfully blocked numerous efforts to enact stronger federal regulations to protect the food we eat from potential health hazards such as E.coli and genetic engineering. Learn how a complex web of government oversight keeps us from learning about what's really in the foods we eat. Michele Simon is a public health lawyer specializing in food and nutrition policy. She is founder and director of the Center for Informed Food Choices, a nonprofit organization that educates about the politics of food. She has published numerous articles about these issues.
