Guest guest
The new SAN FRANCISCO WEEKLY (Sept. 29) features a cover story entitled, " RIDE 'EM, SOLDIER: Why the Army thinks a California bull rider will help it recruit soldiers during wartime, " by reporter Nate Cavalieri. (inside, the piece is entitled, " Under the Gun. " ) The mind boggles. In an unholy alliance, the U.S. Army has joined forces with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and the Professional Bull Riders Association as a recruiting tool for new soldiers. Lovely: animal (and human) abuse in support of an illegitimate war waged by an illegitimate president. And for pay (that's OUR taxpayers' money, folks). There are currently four young men on the team traveling around the country. One from Willits, CA is profiled in the article. He's of the opinion that the U.S. should simply " pave over " Iraq, and consider it a loss. Great role model for our Fighting Forces and the world, hey? So grab a copy of the WEEKLY, then write some Letters to the Editor. NOW. And send copies to your legislators and the Dept. of Defense while you're at it.
