HELP NAME AND SAVE A MOON BEAR!

Throughout Asia, thousands of endangered moon bears, so called for the golden crescent of fur on their chests, are kept captive and caged on bear farms, " milked " in a painful procedure for their gall bladder bile, which ends up in cosmetics and luxury items. Although bear bile is also used in traditional Chinese medicine, synthetic and herbal alternatives make this practice outmoded, cruel, and unnecessary. To date, Animals Asia Foundation (www.animalsasia.org) has rescued 130 bears, which now live at the Moon Bear Rescue Center in Chengdu, China, and is about to take in another 90 bears. In support of their work, Jim Harral and Lisa Owens are hosting a house party to raise $9,600, the cost of freeing and supporting one moon bear for three years.

Please come to a free wine and cheese tasting and silent auction. We will also be showing a video from Animals Asia about a recent bear rescue. If you cannot come but would like to make a donation, please send a check of any amount, payable to Animals Asia Foundation, care of either Jim or Lisa (to address below), to help us reach our goal of raising $9,600.
