Guest guest
Hello, We are an exotic bird rescue out in the Vacaville area. Over the last 10 years we have rehabed seriously demented and human tormented parrots, finding new homes and companions for some and keeping (now about 30) in permanent sanctuary. We've developed a great educational program for outreach that we bring to elementary schools which uses the actual birds stories of rescue and recovery. We try to do a lot of good work for these amazingly brilliant animals that are suffering through a quiet epidemic of irresponsible breeding and callous sale and ownership. We have also acquired two young Ostriches, we've named Maurice and Gigi, from an Ostrich farm that went out of business. They were saved from being burgers thanks to the owners retiring. We are in very tough shape with resources due to vandalism and donatios issues this past summer, as well as emergency heating for the bird space when the heating system dying last December (heating bills went from $60/m to $450-600/m). We could use help. We can always find foster homes for the parrots but the Ostriches would probably would not be so lucky. We are frantic with the possibility of (our friends) these wonderful big, gentle and graceful birds being turned into steak. It doesn't take a lot to keep them fed and pay off some of the long past due bills that can shut us down. But we as caretakers are completely tapped out and could use whatever donation anyone would find it in their hearts to make. We currently have a donated website, not sure how long we will keep it up. It explains alot of what we do and perhaps if you check it out, you'll agree that our work should continue. More importantly you'll help us provide sanctuary and happiness for creatures already traumatized enough by human problems. The site is http://www.wondertainment.com/rescue.htm Thanks, Michael Rossetti
