Guest guest
Hi all, I got the following message from a colleague of mine. Can anyone comment on the link he sent? ---------------- Dear David, Sorry I couldn't make the dinner. The asiatics eat only a small amount of soy per person, between one and two teaspoons a day, and they a lot of fish, three pounds a week in Japan. Soy causes brain shrinkage, brain cancer, and premature aging among many other bad effects. Here is a link about the bad effects of soy: http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/soy.htm
Guest guest
feel free to ignore anything that links dr. joseph mercola and links to soyonlineservice.co.nz. both regularly push discredited science. all anti soy " information " sites eventually lead back to them. there are no exceptions to that. mercola honestly believes in all his heart that soy formulas kill babies, despite their decades of safe use, and that is enough for me to discredit him and anyone who quotes him. the " brain shrinkage " myth comes from a study where elderly asians (living in asia) tended to have less robust brains if they ate more soy. but the authors of the study later realized that asians who lived in poverty also tended to eat more soy, and the harmful effects to the brain were actually correlated with poverty rather than soy consumption. no surprise there. there's plenty more sloppiness on the part of the anti-soy crusaders, but that's just a start. as a general rule, it's good to ignore alarmists. I think the gist of it was that soy in moderation was okay. Below is a website on health info, and I think the section on soy will address your concerns... http://www.veganhealth.org/ Cheers, Tammy
