Guest guest
OAKLAND GRAND SLAM OR FOOD TRIATHLON? You're welcome to attend one or all three! There are 3 Bay Area Veg events this weekend, all on Sunday in Oakland! Start the day with an invigorating and refreshing hike in the beauty of Redwood Regional Park, led by Carla Refuel and relax at a Vegan Food Party at Lake Temescal, hosted by Pam & Roy then end the evening with a yummy meal at the monthly New World Vegetarian dinner hosted by Bob -------- Come to the Redwood Forest to work up an appetite before Pam & Roy's Lake Temescal VFP! We'll be hiking to one of the highest points in Oakland-- Redwood Peak, at 1619' (a good cardio workout)! Sections are steep with rocky steps, so wear sturdy shoes. I haven't yet decided on our exact route so the distance is unknown at this point, but the hike will last about 1.5-2 hrs. If you've never been to Redwood Park, you won't believe that you're in Oakland! We'll meet at my house across from Redwood Park at 10am and leave for the Park at 10:15am sharp. Feel free to store your VFP dish inside, but refrigerator space will limited (my house is cool, though). Cold drinks will be served after our hike, then we'll bring our hunger to Lake Temescal! See next event listing for more details about the Vegan Food Party, what to bring, etc. Please e-mail me directly for directions and address. I hope you can make it! Carla (dindelion1) -------- You're invited to Bay Area Vegetarians Vegan Food Party / picnic at Lake Temescal in Oakland on Sunday, Sept 19th at noon, hosted by Pam & Roy Webb. (#2 of 3 events on Sunday, see bottom of email for more info) Let's meet at the Broadway Terrace end of the lake. Look for the *green* canopy (it was blue/white last year). Bring vegan food to share (enough for 6 generous servings), your own plate and utensils, and serving spoon, ingredient list, and a blanket to sit on if benches not available. If you're not familiar with vegan foods/VFPs and not sure what to bring, take a look at what folks have brought to previous VFPs or ask for suggestions. More info about VFPs: http://www.bayareaveg.org/vfpdetails.htm Recipes from previous VFPs: http://www.bayareaveg.org/recipes.htm There is parking at both ends of this lake, but there is a $4.00 charge. However, off Broadway Terr. you can park on street in neighborhood and walk down to lake. You may also park at Broadway end of lake which will require about half mile walk to get to our picnic area. Dogs on leashes are allowed in the park. There is swimming allowed on Broadway end for charge of $3.00. Temescal can be reached from Hwy 24 or from Hwy 13 Broadway Terr. exit. For more info, call Pam at 510-653-7966 after 11:00am.
