Aqua Demo yesterday- Owners, police, bullhorn!

Hey yesterday's 3rd of these weekly demonstrations in front of Aqua yesterday was hot! It is an excellant location and lots of passersby!

Richard and I began with just leafletting with posters. The owners came out to mark their territory...we marked ours...A police car pulls up ..a very nice cop. " wondered what you are here for " . It was obvious Aqua called them. I handed him a leaflet. Richard handed him his 2 pieces of great comments both from himself and the Commission of Animal Control and Welfare (condeming foie gras) (Great work Richard!!!).

I kept leafletting the cop just went to his car and rested..and listened as I continued to verbalize that " 14 other countries and states have banned the use of foie gras and many restaurarnts in the Bay Area...go to nofoiegras.org and see why, etc " without a bull horn. (I repeated the website address at least 50 times during the 2 hour demo)

Next another cop car pulls up, and another. they all milled around with the owners in and out and struts here and there. Richard and I were undaunted! Eventualy all but 1 car pulled away as we continued our protest...

Kimberleys bus finally got her to us WITH THE BULL HORN! (by the way BART was excellant. Get off at the Embarcadero stop and walk around the corner! I took it all the way from Pleasant Hill).

I immediately began expounding on the attrocities of foie gras...mentioning all the other restaurants that are serving it and also congratulating loudly those that have pledged not to in the Bay ARea (SF Hilton and Jardeniere are just 2). I detailed how " ...the tube is shoved down their throats, until their liver is 10 times it's normal size... " ,and walked the, now gathering passersby, even across the street, through the torturous process of how foie gras is made " ...and then placed on Aquas plate...yes their is blood on Aqua's plate " ...all loudly through the bull horn! This went on for at least an hour or more...many people started actually asking for the leaflets.

Mr Persais...Manager (remember him from my face to face with him during my " Walk Out " ) comes out at one point with his hands in the air asking for mercy to the cop..that I think he woke from his nap as if to say " what can you do about this... "

They were entirely at a loss...We were allowed to stay there the entire time! We even stayed longer than planned!

The bull horn is defintiely a must at these demos...Each time the front door was opened I casually made sure my horn was directed at the dorr so the diners could hear me even more so. Anybody want to donate one to the cause... I am boring Kimberleys.

The next Aqua Demo..will be Sat 9/18 at 5:30 PM. this will be the 1st time we do the Saturday night Dinner crowd ...should be good!! So all those that have stated they can't do week/work days..here is your chance! NO PARKING IN THE FINANCIAL DISTRICT!!! take BART or bus. Well maybe Sat is ok...??
